What is Transparency Film 

A transparency paper or film is a smooth, transparent, clear, and thin sheet of paper made of cellulose material and used to transfer print designs to clothes. These sheets feel like plastic and have a printable coating applied, so they work with the printers inkjet or laser printer to print. 


Types of Transparency Films 

Transparency Films are of many types, but all come in basic forms, including clear, smooth, and thin sheets. The three most used transparency films are write-on transparency film, plain paper copier film, and laser transparency films.

  • Write-On Transparency Film- The write-on transparency film is used for projectors and presentations but is unsuitable for design printing. These types of transparency film are not for printing and are budget-friendly. These are designed to work with markers and are easy to clean with a dry-erase marker, and you can reuse them. 

  • Inkjet Transparency Film- The special coating is added to one side of the inkjet transparency film. The coating ensures that the printer absorbs the ink and is dry. These types of papers can be used at home and make full-color prints, but this printer takes some time to dry the ink. These types of films are more economical and focused on the consumer market. 

  • Laser Transparency Film- Laser transparency films are designed for laser printers. It delivers high-quality results using toner instead of ink and is more economical. These printers can be used at home and in offices and use toner to print after every page. 

  • Plain Paper Copier Film- These are the oldest types of printable transparency which only work with copier machines. But these copiers are bulky industrial-sized printed used in offices and have ample space; these don’t work with home printers. It is best for those industries that want to create high-quantity printed films. These come in US letter sizes paper but work with black toner from the laser copier machines.
